Who We Are

This website (couplestherapywithchris.com) is operated by Couples Therapy With Chris, LLC ("CTWC," "we," "us"), a therapy practice located in Rocky River, Ohio. This policy explains how we handle information collected through this website. It does not cover clinical records or protected health information, which are governed by our separate Notice of Privacy Practices provided to clients at intake. This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Information We Collect

Information you provide. If you use our contact form or email us, we receive the information you choose to share — typically your name, email address, phone number, and message.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we collect basic analytics data such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you found the site. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies via our website platform (Squarespace) and analytics tools.

A Note About the Contact Form

Our contact form and email are not encrypted or HIPAA-secure channels. Please do not include sensitive personal or clinical details in your initial inquiry — your name, contact information, and a brief note is all we need. Once we connect, we will move communication to a secure client portal.

This website and contact form are not monitored continuously and are not for emergencies. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.

How We Use Information

We use information collected through this website to:

  • Respond to your inquiries and schedule consultations

  • Understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it

  • Maintain the security and functionality of the website

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use website inquiry information for advertising or share it with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

This website is built on Squarespace, and we use third-party services that may process data on our behalf, including:

  • Squarespace (website hosting and built-in analytics)

  • Google (email, phone, and analytics services)

  • SimplePractice (secure client portal and scheduling — governed by its own privacy practices once you become a client)

Links to third-party sites (such as our scheduling portal or social media) are governed by those sites' own privacy policies.

Cookies

This site uses two general categories of cookies:

  • Necessary cookies, which support basic site functionality (e.g., page navigation, security) and cannot be disabled without affecting how the site works.

  • Analytics cookies, which help us understand how visitors use the site in aggregated, de-identified form. We do not use this data to identify individual visitors.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling non-essential cookies may affect some site functionality but will not prevent you from browsing or contacting us.

Do Not Track. Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Our site does not currently respond to these signals, as there is no common industry standard for how to interpret them. We do not currently sell or share personal information as defined under state privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act); if that changes as the practice grows, this policy will be updated accordingly.

Data Security and Retention

We take reasonable measures to protect information submitted through this site. In the event we become aware that inquiry data (such as names, emails, or phone numbers) has been compromised in a manner that poses a meaningful risk to you, we will notify affected individuals within a reasonable time and take appropriate steps to address the incident.

We retain website inquiry information (from individuals who do not become clients) for up to 24 months from the date of the inquiry, after which it is deleted unless we are required to retain it longer for legal or business record-keeping purposes. If you become a client, your clinical records are retained separately in accordance with Ohio CSWMFT Board recordkeeping requirements, as described in our Notice of Privacy Practices.

Children

This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 through this site. If you are a parent or guardian inquiring on behalf of a minor child regarding individual therapy services, you are welcome to contact us — this notice is about our website's data collection practices, not about who we see clinically.

Your Choices

You may contact us at any time to ask what information we have received from you through this website or to request that we delete it, subject to any legal record-keeping obligations. We will respond to such requests within 10 business days by emailing you at hello@couplestherapywithchris.com.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above reflects the most recent version.
