EMOTIONALLY FOCUSED COUPLES THERAPY IN CLEVELAND
Don’t let go just yet.
You’ve become experts at avoiding each other.
You're walking on eggshells around each other, or you've become resentful roommates who coordinate schedules but barely connect.
Simple conversations turn into arguments about who forgot to take out the trash, but you both know there’s something deeper going on.
You’re tired of feeling caught in this cycle:
Your friends' marriages look effortless on social media, making you wonder if you're the only ones struggling this much.
You find yourself fantasizing about what it would be like to feel genuinely excited to see your spouse come home, instead of bracing for another tense evening.
Date nights feel forced when they happen at all, and you're both scrolling your phones instead of talking during dinner.
what your life could look like
Couples therapy can help you rediscover the love that brought you together.
Imagine waking up each morning genuinely excited to share your day with your partner. You have conversations that flow naturally, where you feel heard and understood rather than defensive or misunderstood. You have conflicts that bring you closer together instead of driving you apart—disagreements that become opportunities to understand each other more deeply rather than battles to be won or lost.
Through our work together, couples often discover they can rebuild the emotional intimacy they thought was gone forever. You'll learn to communicate in ways that create connection rather than distance, developing tools to navigate life's inevitable stresses as a unified team. The small gestures of affection return naturally—holding hands during movies, laughing together at inside jokes, choosing to share your thoughts and feelings openly because you trust they'll be received with care.
A good relationship doesn’t require perfection—it just requires mutual effort toward creating a partnership where both people feel valued, supported, and genuinely happy to be together. Where you can be completely yourself while also being part of something beautiful and meaningful. The love that brought you together is still there, it’s just waiting to be rediscovered and nurtured back to life.
how we’ll get you there
Evidence-Based Tools That Actually Work
I draw primarily on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), informed by Gottman Method principles, to help couples identify specific patterns and develop new skills. You'll learn practical communication techniques, understand your unique conflict styles, and discover what makes your relationship thrive.
Creating Safety First
Before we can rebuild connection, we need to create an environment where both partners feel safe to be vulnerable. We'll work on stopping harmful patterns, establishing ground rules for healthy communication, and helping each person feel heard and validated.
A Roadmap Designed for You
Every couple is different. We'll identify your unique relationship patterns, celebrate what's already working well, and create a clear path forward that honors both of your personalities and goals.

Common questions about couples therapy
-
I hear this question from almost every couple I work with. The fact that you’re asking it usually means there’s still love underneath the pain—otherwise you wouldn’t be considering therapy. We’ll explore this together honestly, and if you do decide to rebuild, you’ll know it was a conscious choice, not just avoiding a difficult decision.
-
It’s incredibly common for one partner to be more motivated for therapy initially. I’m experienced at working with reluctant partners and helping them see how counseling can benefit them personally, not just the relationship. Often the “reluctant” partner becomes the most engaged once they feel understood.
-
Many couples feel real relief within 8–12 sessions — shorter fights, an easier read on each other. Lasting change usually takes longer: most see significant improvement over 12–20 sessions across 4–6 months. Every relationship is different, but I'd rather give you an honest arc than a number that sounds good and doesn't hold up.
